What are Rudi and McCain thinking?

When frontrunners in a political campaign bail on an important event you have to wonder why. When I heard the Rudi Guiliani and John McCain had decided to stop preparing for the Ames Straw Poll in Iowa and turn all their money and energies towards the caucuses only, I was shocked. But then I knew that it was because of the very great possibility that they were going to get beat. Anyone following the polls in Iowa know that Mitt Romney is making huge inroads there. His strategy is working and he is gaining important voter support. While each of the top tier candidates have strong campaign organizations, Mitt Romney's has an advantage. It is led by the candidate with the greater experience in making huge operations hugely successful. While the rest of the country has barely been introduced to him, the people of Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina are learning who he is and what he believes. They are learning what he plans to do and how he plans to do it. And they like what they are learning.
The first time I heard of Mitt Romney was when he was appointed to take over the Salt Lake Olympics. Does anyone else remember the huge embarrassment the Olympic disaster was becoming? If anybody needed a hero at that time, the USA did. A failed Olympics would have been a huge black eye on America. It would have been humiliating. Mitt Romney's capable leadership turned all that around and the Olympics was a huge success and one of which America can justly be proud. From that time I have been watching Romney. He surprised a lot of people when he won the Governors race in Massachusetts. I was surprised, but pleased. So I am watching his Presidential race with interest.
Guiliani and McCain may have decided to make the best of a bad situation, but their decision is really highlighting the success of Romney's campaign strategy and that will make a lot of people stand up and take notice. He is the one that forced two front runners to run for the hills.
