Fred Thompson getting into the campaign concerns me. I’m afraid too many people will think they are getting another Ronald Reagan. Many conservatives seem to be remaking Fred Thompson in the image of what they want the President to be. He will obviously market himself to continue this idea in the eyes of the voters. Will they look deeper and take the time to really get to know him?  I will be interested to see how the other candidates on the left and the right will attack him or challenge him. I am not particularly a fan of Fred Thompson. I am suspicious of him coming in so late and apparently only because he saw that he had a waiting fan base. I think it is highly important for a man or woman to run for President because they feel a deep and compelling desire to serve the country. Fred Thompson seems to be coming in because his ego is being stroked all over the media and blogs.

     Another thing that concerns me about him is that many people who have worked with him have reported him as lazy. Laziness is definitely a characteristic that we don’t need in a President. I have a lazy boss. He is a great talker, but the result of his laziness affects everyone around him and makes a satisfactory work environment impossible. A great talker can convince people that he has great ideas, and that he sees just the way to solve all the problems, but if he is lazy, others are left to carry out his ideas. He does not lead the way. Can we afford this in a president?

     So as you can see I have a lot to be convinced about on Fred Thompson.  I think it would be a huge mistake for the Republican Party to nominate a candidate that has not accomplished much of anything politically other than give some good speeches and write some good articles. 

       I may change my thinking about him, especially if the comparison is between him and Obama or Hillary, but when I compare him to the hard working candidates like Romney, Guilliani, and McCain I am less than impressed.
